Clients often come to the studio before they know exactly what should be built. Early conversations are less about solutions than understanding a place, establishing priorities and recognising what might become possible. Architectural work is rarely straightforward. Questions of planning, budget, programme and how best to proceed are often more important than immediate solutions. We help clients understand opportunities, avoid unnecessary costs and establish what should happen next.

Projects therefore begin with a Design Workshop. This initial stage will research and communicate the opportunities and constraints of a place and to establish a clear direction before significant commitments are made. For some clients this may be sufficient in itself; for others it becomes the basis of a longer architectural appointment.
