Architect Benjamin Machin is an architecture practice designing contemporary buildings, interiors and public spaces.

Working from the studio in east London, our work is defined by a sensitivity to context and experience, with projects across a range of scales, locations and typologies informed by careful study of the found people and place.

The studio is an RIBA Chartered Practice and are registered with the Architects Registration Board. We are signatories of both Architects Declare and the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge.

Born in Stoke-on-Trent, Benjamin studied architecture in Liverpool and London and worked within critically acclaimed practices for over ten years. In 2021, he established his own studio with the ambition of making thoughtful work with a sensibility for what already exists.

Benjamin is actively engaged as a visiting critic at various schools of architecture across the United Kingdom and has led a final year design studio at Loughborough University since 2021.

Benjamin has written articles on and around architecture for a number of publications and is currently preparing a contribution to an RIBA book about working with references.

We make architecture that is spatially rich, yet necessary. Our approach is respectful of history and place, but contemporary in nature.

Incorporating responsive collaboration with clients, consultants and constructors, each project initiates a new process of looking, learning and interpreting.

Our architecture is formed of concerns for wellbeing, ecology and locality and we strive to enhance the experience of its users and the wider community.

'We have our eye on this young practice for its deceptively simple designs, driven by the wellbeing of the individuals who experience them.'
